ABSTRACT: Wood has been the main building material for the Malaysian’s history from the simple kampong houses to royal palaces. Together with woods, other sources such as bamboo and leaves were used. The architecture styles with influences from culture, races and religions create a significant difference in style, design and layout. Malaysian houses combines many styles from Islamic and Chinese styles to those brought by European colonists. Houses design in the north part is similar to those in Thailand, while in south part are similar to those in Java. New materials of glass and nails from Europe’s change the architecture. Living in these houses creates harmonies culture whereby multi-racial community living together in one place and interact every day in harmonies. Nowadays, the modern houses change the landscapes and replace the traditional wooden houses as well as the harmonies lifestyle live in it. Cooperation and interaction among neighborhood are less practice and significantly impacted multi-racial community relationship especially in urban city. It would be interested to understand how the architecture designs change the cultural landscapes and the relations it creates to the multi-racial community in Malaysia.
